Some years ago, musician and artist Rawa Muñoz, a member of the Shipibo-Conibo community, recorded this song with Andi Teichmann in Peru. Their friend Martin Gretschmann aka Acid Pauli later created remixes of the piece.
The song itself is an ikaro, a traditional healing chant, interacting with Andis live electronic sounds.
Ikaros are part of the Amazonian Shipibo-Conibo tradition, sung in ceremonies for spiritual and physical healing.
The project was intended as a collaboration, shared out of solidarity and respect.
The healing song was shared as a gift, and at the same time, listeners had the opportunity to make donations to support the Shipibo-Conibo community. Payment for the music was voluntary, and all proceeds went to the Shipibo-Conibo community in Ucayali, Peru, to support basic medical care during the COVID-19 crisis, while much of the world was already recovering.
